MEDIUM VOLTAGE SWITCHGEARS
Medium Voltage Switchgears could be classified under two main types according to the insulation medium as Air Insulated Switchgears (AIS) and Gas Insulated Switchgears (GIS). The voltage level of these switchgears ranges from 6.3 kV up to 40.5 kV. The nominal current used in the secondary distribution system could be 630A or 1250A, whilst, the short-circuit withstand current can be produced at the levels of 16kA, 20kA, and 25kA. For higher rates, Metal Clad Switchgears GIS type can be used. These switchgears can be manufactured from 630A up to 5000A. In addition, a double busbar system is found in these products.
